In what is emerging as a fierce rivalry, the homecoming powder puff football game was played last Thursday night under the lights at Case Field.
The seniors came into the game ready to defend their title, but had their hands full in a game that went down to the wire. Ultimately the seniors came out on top, 43-42. Last year the class of 2010 made history by being the first junior class to win the game, according to several credible sources.
Both teams ran a variation of an option/wing T offense keeping the ball in their biggest playmakers hands. For the seniors, Ashleigh Tondo led the charge, scoring early and often and racing down both sidelines. However, juniors Katie Green and Beth Andrasik turned in big performances that kept their team in the game. Green proved to be a defensive force and a deep-threat receiver, while Andrasik anchored the team at quarterback and put the team on her shoulders late in the game scoring several rushing touchdowns, but came up just short as time expired.
Legendary powder puff Coaches Nick Spring and DJ Suitca say it feels great to go out on top of the powder puff-coaching world, but that they couldn't have done any of it without their team.
