Students and members of the Cleveland community got their swing on in Carlton Commons on Sept. 18. The event was a success, with experienced swingers and novices taking advantage of the music and filling the floor. The CWRU Swing Club invited the Dave Bennett quartet to campus to play for the university's various swing fans.
"We heard them at another swing event. We knew they were local, so we decided to have them come play for us," said treasurer Stephanie Velloze.
The group holds lessons every Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m in Carlton Commons and holds intense practices Fridays in Wade from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The Swing club's next special event, The Spartan Swing Exchange, or Sparx, will be in February and feature the Boilermaker Jazz Band.
