The No. 12-ranked women's cross country team took a limited squad to Wooster Tuesday for their first meet of the 2009 season. The Spartans will be at full strength this Saturday at Squire Valleevue Farm in Hunting Valley when they host the 9th Annual Bill Sudeck Classic at 11:00 a.m.

The Wooster meet, which included NCAA Division III teams from Baldwin Wallace College, Oberlin College, Hiram College and Heidelberg College, was not scored.

Freshmen Meghan Thommes and Thea Emmons led the way for the Spartans with top-20 finishes in the four-mile run. Thommes came in 12th (out of 36) in a time of 16:36 while Emmons was 16th in a time of 17:10.

The men's cross country team also took a light and young squad to Wooster.

Freshman Chris Kelly led the way in the men's four-mile run for the Spartans, with a eighth-place finish (out of 39) in a time of 22:24. Right behind Kelly was freshman Brandon Reidlinger, who placed 12th in a time of 22:43.
