      Friday, April 10

Perhaps the biggest jokesters of the Case Western a cappella circuit, Speakeasy are holding their end of the year concert at Amasa Stone this Friday.  The group promises “nothing but entertainment” along with new songs and something about a free Snuggie, although the last item has yet to be completely confirmed.  Time: 7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  Cost: Free.  Location: Amasa Stone Chapel.  Info: casespeakeasy.com

One of the most curious aspects of the play Stage Door is that its film adaptation, while earned it a Best Picture Academy Award nomination in 1937, had very little to do with the actual play.  Still, the original work, written by Edna Ferber and George Kaufman, the classic comedy about making it in show business in the 1930’s, will be put on for two consecutive weekends by the CWRU Department of Theater and Dance, and directed by Mark Alan Gordon and John Jensen.  Time: 8:00 p.m., April 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18, 2:30 p.m., April 19.  Cost: $5.  Location: Eldred Theatre.  Info: http://www.case.edu/artsci/thtr/

      Monday, April 13

For a venue that hosts mainly indie-oriented acts, the Beachland Ballroom is going a triple-dose of what many may consider to be the modern indie sound – pop rock saturated in melody, twee-emotion and instrumentation that varies from the standard guitar-bass-drums lineup.  Cloud Cult and Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s co-headline an evening of music designed for an audience that may prefer deep introspection in their music more-so than extroverted dancing.  Fellow indie up-and-comers Ice Palace will open.  Time: 8:30 p.m.  Cost: $15.  Location: The Beachland Ballroom.  Info:  www.beachlandballroom.com

      Thursday, April 16

Come to the Jolly Scholar this Thursday and let one of CWRU’s premier a cappella groups entertain you as you eat and drink your way toward the weekend.  Case in Point are performing their instrument-less arrangements of popular tunes at the establishment in preparation for their big end of the year concert on April 23.  For a sneak peak at what the group has to offer, there’s no better way to spend a Thursday evening on campus.  Time: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  Cost: Free.  Location: The Jolly Scholar.  Info: http://www.new..php?eid=95021844912&ref=search
