Gian Genovesi is a senior management major with a concentration in finance. He's a defensive lineman on Case's 4-0-football team. The Ohio native is a product of Chaminade-Julienne Catholic High School and is involved in the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the Case Association of Student Athletes.

Joe Amick: How long have you been playing football?

Gian Genovesi: Since I was in fifth grade. I'm a business major… I can't do that math.

JA: Who inspired you to play?

GG: THE Brian Calderone.

JA: …who now joins a long, distinguished line of THEs (Dude, Juice, Ohio State University). Who's your favorite athlete?

GG: Brian Calderone.

JA: Everyone else seems to like Misty May-Treanor. What would we find in your locker right now that might surprise us?

GG: A lock of Brian Calderone's back hair.

JA: I've heard that's Kazakhstan's No. 2 export. What's your best football memory?

GG: Turning around on the last play of the game against OWU and watching Bobby Bott hammer the receiver short of the first down to give us our first playoff berth in school history.

JA: What's your favorite quote?

GG: "If you can't win, cheat. If cheating doesn't allow you to win, quit."

JA: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

GG: Married and living in San Francisco with two children (Brian Jr. and Briana).

JA: Would you rather have the strength of 1000 men, be able to fly, or be invisible?

GG: Definitely be invisible. 'Cause then Steve Young couldn't catch me watching him sleep again…

JA: I'd pick flying and put a very small camera in the vent above his bed. It's 2008, Gian. Technology. If they made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you?

GG: Yep, you guessed it… Frank Stallone.

JA: There is a pretty close resemblance… similar eyeballs. But I was actually guessing 'anyone who appears in Casino.' What's your least favorite thing about football?

GG: I can't play it all day everyday.

JA: If you could be a girl for a day, what would you do?

GG: Jog, wear a skirt with a halter top, go shopping, put on some makeup, and dance in my room all by myself. It would pretty much be the same stuff I usually do.

JA: Wait, no sitting-down on the potty material? No $5 martinis with the gals? Running around and feeling pretty is great, but I think you're missing out on some opportunities to work in some trite Spartan Spotlight material. If you could participate in any other sport, which would you pick and why?
