Spartans earn best UAA finish since 2000, grab first ever NCAA berth

A fourth-place finish, the team's best since 2000, at the University Athletic Association championship came with a cherry on top. On Monday, the Case Western Reserve University volleyball team earned its first-ever berth to the NCAA Division III National Championship, a pleasant surprise for a team that thought its season over after its loss to New York University on Saturday.

The women's soccer 2010 season came to a close this weekend in a disappointing loss at the University of Rochester in a University Athletic Association (UAA) matchup. The Spartans came out with a high-energy level when the whistle blew. Just 10 minutes into the game, freshman forward Leah Levey scored the first goal of the game and her sixth of the season to give the Spartans a 1-0 leg up.

The Case Western Reserve University Ultimate Frisbee teams capped off an excellent fall season last weekend with championship wins at their annual home tournament, Northcoast.The tournament included 20 men's and 10 women's teams and was held at the Cleveland Metroparks polo fields just 10 miles east of the CWRU campus.

Spartans drop final match at Rochester, miss out on NCAAs

The Spartans dropped their final game of the 2010 season to the University of Rochester Yellow Jackets last week. Rochester dominated on their home field and scored four goals to CWRU's zero. In the tiebreaker for fourth and fifth in the UAA, the loss switched the Spartans to fifth place and Rochester to fourth.
