CWRU XC looks to dominate in UAA championship

Halloween comes a day early this year for 20 Spartan student athletes. Tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 30, the Case Western Reserve University's men's and women's cross country teams travel to the UAA Cross Country Championships in New York City to race against some scary competition.

The Case Western Reserve University Spartans and the College of Wooster Fighting Scots met for the 23rd time last weekend, battling for the Baird Brothers Trophy. The No. 23 Spartans continued their four-game win streak against the Scots, winning 28-14 and increasing their regular season win streak to 38 games.

The Spartan volleyball team returned home from a monumental win over No. 1 Washington University in the second UAA Round Robin to find a formidable opponent in Thiel College. The Spartans dropped the first two sets 25-17, before rallying to take home an inspiring win.

2010 UAA cross country championship preview

Brandeis University After being in the top 10 in the national rankings for most of the season, the men's team has hit hard times in the past few weeks. The No. 25-ranked squad has not raced much this season, riding on their reputation for the ranking. Led by the experienced senior Paul Norton, who finished 2nd at the UAA Championships last year, the Brandeis men's team is expected to finish in the top four of the conference.

Hockey picks up first win against CalU

The Case Western Reserve University ice hockey club had a triumphant game against California University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, Oct. 23. The night ended with CWRU winning 5-4 against the Vulcans in a hard-fought game. The win was a big turnaround from last season, when CWRU (1-2) lost to CalU 6-2 at home and 12-0 on the road.

Seniors thump Westminster 6-0 in final home game

The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team took down Westminster College 6-0 last Saturday evening. The win extends the Spartan's three-game winning streak, giving the squad momentum rolling into final three games of the season. With emotions high on senior night, the elder Spartans dominated Westminster during their last game at Case Field, scoring five of the six total goals.
