          Sex and Dating

It's the end of the first week. You met new people in your classes and in your dorms, picked up a few phone numbers, and hoped your lack of dating experience in high school wasn't completely apparent in the way you said hello. If this isn't your first semester back on campus maybe you made eyes at that someone you were dating at the end of last semester, or cocked a smile at a vulnerable freshman.

Student body, SEC ready to move on

The restorative properties of summer break deserve a medal. After a tumultuous spring semester, the new leadership just coming into power at the Student Executive Council (SEC) seems ready to move past the perceived wrongs of last year's SEC. Dominated by extreme personalities, previous SEC boards allowed themselves to be bogged down in a game of 'that's mine, this is yours,' resulting in multiple controversies that were ultimately counterproductive to SEC's intended purpose on campus.

As expected, the moving in period for Case Western Reserve University students has been hectic and various campus-run organizations have already begun pestering them to become more involved in campus activities. While most of these clubs are well run and worth students' attention, it is understandable that students don't feel compelled to immediately sign up.

Class of 2014, take note: in order to dissuade anyone from taking this column or its author seriously, I feel I must make you aware of several facts, lest any of you assume I know anything about anything or am any way remotely competent. For one thing, I ripped the name of this column off a refrigerator magnet in The Observer office.

          Spreading the wealth

          Spreading the wealth

Over the summer, I reconsidered some of my political positions, particularly the redistribution of wealth and the progressive tax scale. I used to adamantly oppose a system that forced the wealthy to pay more in taxes than less fortunate Americans, but President Obama, the Democratic-controlled Congress, and everyday liberal champions such as Anderson Cooper and Chris Matthews make some valid points for such a system.
