81st Academy Awards ceremony drastically improves

81st Academy Awards ceremony drastically improves

Film is a beautiful, free-flowing form of artistic expression, meant to be shared and interpreted in all sorts of ways, accumulating into a passionate industry full of festivals, art house productions, and creative forces. However, for better or for worse, the film industry concurrently operates as a multi-billion dollar business, subject to box office receipts, specific market appeal, and superficial cultural relevance.

Six bands battle to open for The Black Keys at Springfest

Ladies and gentlemen, the news is in. Critically acclaimed Akron, Ohio-based blues-rock duo The Black Keys are playing Springfest. They may not be the Decemberists, or any of the bands on the ballot, for that matter, but they're a damn fine selection and should be a real treat to host on campus.

Eldred's production of Medea is uneven, but worth seeing

Many of you may remember reading Greek tragedies in high school, like Antigone or Oedipus the King. As dramatic and depressing as they may be, their didactic quality is what seems to affect readers most. Eldred Theater's most recent production, Medea, delves into the irrational behavior that accompanies bitter jealousy in a deteriorating relationship.

The Secret Ingredient: Ginger

Ginger is a spice that can be combined with many different ingredients in order to create a nutritious and tasty meal. Whether it is in your morning smoothie, a delicious dessert, or the spice used to make a boring piece of chicken a treat, give ginger a try and your stomach will thank you! In fact, ginger has traditionally been used to calm upset stomachs, so try purchasing either ground, crystallized, or fresh ginger the next time you visit the grocery store.

The Worst Case Scenario: Case's claim to fame

A lot of people give Case Western a lot of crap, some of it justified, some not. Just some of the complaints I hear from people refer to things as varied as drastic increases in tuition, an inadequate student life, falling rankings, and difficult crosswords in the student newspaper.

Just in Case: Staying healthy on the run

I'm having a hard time making sure that I eat lunch during the school day. I don't really have time for Grab-It, and I live in a freshman dorm, so I don't have my own kitchen. What are some tips I can use to make sure I get enough to eat and that what I do eat is nutritious? While we all realize that it's important to eat healthy day in and day out to have the energy to get through the day, we also know that the feasibility of that is a completely different story.

Sex and Dating: The honeymoon phase

Aren't relationships nice? And by that I specifically mean, aren't the beginning of relationships nice? Not that the other parts aren't, but there's something special about the first few weeks or months. Neither you nor your significant other can do wrong; there are usually no fights and arguments, and there are normally lots of presents and affection.
