Spartans can't hold early leads

The Spartans lost two conference games on the road this weekend, to New York University, 70-58, and Brandeis, 71-52. They are now on a four-game losing streak.
The Spartans are 11-7 (2-5 UAA).
Against NYU on Sunday, the Spartans jumped out to a 6-0 lead. The Violets then went on a 12-5 run to grab their first lead of the game, 12-11. The Spartans out-rebounded the Violets 24-15 in the first half and led, 30-24, at the intermission.
NYU used a early run to tie things, 35-35, at the 15:55 mark in the second half and 25 seconds later, the Violets took the lead, 57-55, on junior guard Chelsea Blake's layup. Spartans shot just 30 percent from the field in the second half and 31 percent for the game.
Senior guard Ashleigh Tondo double-doubled with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
In Friday's loss to Brandeis, the Spartans scored eight unanswered points and took their biggest lead of the game, 27-18, on a Tondo layup with 4 minutes, 5 seconds left in the first half. The Judges ended the first half with a 16-2 run and lead by five, 34-29, at the break.
The game was tied, 43-43, with 12 minutes, 5 seconds remaining. The Judges then took over, outscoring the Spartans 23-3 over the next seven-plus minutes to go up 20, 66-46.
