The Spartans move on to the last game of their regular season with hopes of making it their 31st consecutive regular-season win, a streak that began with the final game of the 2006 season.

The Spartans have won every single regular season game since that time, with a few tough playoff games thrown into the mix as their only losses. If a victory, this final game of the season against Washington University will clinch both the third straight undefeated regular season and the third consecutive UAA Championship, making the current Spartans the most consistently successful football team in Case's recent history.

That being said, it won't happen without a struggle, but this weekend's game should serve as a warm-up round for the upcoming playoffs, in which the Spartans will be matched with teams of considerable strength and talent. Unfortunately for WashU, the Spartans' necessary preparation will involve digging a hole for the Bears and putting them in their place with tough football and far superior discipline.

The 4-5 Bears are currently leading the series between the two teams at 16-7, since their first meeting in 1985. In recent years, however, Case Western Reserve University has dominated matchup on both sides of the ball, often walking away victorious from a three- or four-possession game. The Bears have just come off of a big win against the University of Chicago, which was probably a closer game than they had intended, at 44-37.

The Bears have compiled the sixth-strongest schedule in Division III football, in which the Bears face three teams that are ranked in the top 25, including No. 9 Case, No. 12 Wittenberg, and No. 15 Wabash. The Bears have also lost to a few teams that Case has dominated this season as well as past ones, including Wooster and Carnegie Mellon.
