You wouldn't be able to tell that it was 11 p.m on a Monday night after an intense ultimate frisbee practice by Homecoming queen Ali Briggs's undaunted enthusiasm. Briggs, who emerged victorious in 2009's homecoming vote, which drew about 4000 votes, has a lot of pride in her school, the organizations she represents and her family.

Julia Clancy: So your name's Ali...is that short for anything?

Ali Briggs: Nope, my full name is Ali, people that I've met from other countries confuse this especially (In the Middle East, my name is masculine, so people I've met from that area are always puzzled by it).

JC: Where are you from?

AB: Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

JC: So you live pretty close, do you enjoy being near home?

AB: Yeah, I really like living close to home, its nice to go on lunch dates with my mom and dad. Sergio's and Cheesecake Factory are our favorites.

JC: What is your Major?

AB: Management and International Studies

JC: Why did you pick it?

AB: I've always been interested in business and also foreign affairs, and I'm gradually figuring out how to combine my interests. I really like the idea of the Commercial Service, the business branch of the Foreign Service, consulting, the State Department, really my career choices are changing by the month at this point! Recently I've become fascinated with social entrepreneurship, basically using business to end poverty. Business can be used to help people; it's not always exploitative.

JC: What kinds of things do you do out of class? Extracurriculars?

AB: I've been a Delta Gamma since freshman year; right now I'm the director of social events which is a lot of fun, we just had a hoedown-themed date party. I'm also president of an awesome new group, the Case Social Entrepreneurship club. I play on the ultimate frisbee team, (go Fighting Gobies!) and I am a member of Alpha Kappi Psi, the professional business fraternity.
