Keith Lupton, a fourth year engineering physics major, was elected homecoming king on Oct. 24. Currently, he is on co-op researching fuel cells.

Gillian Seaman: What made you decide to come to Case Western Reserve University?

Keith Lupton: I don't want to sound cliché, but the small school feel. You have the chance to communicate with a lot of people. Academics here are awesome. I know when I graduate I'll get an awesome job. I actually suicided Case. It was the only school I applied to. I almost didn't get it. I was on the waitlist. But I love Case, and I'm so happy they elected me.

GS: How does it feel being homecoming king?

KL: Holy s***. Pretty sweet. It's nice to be recognized.

GS: What did it feel like when you were nominated by USG for Homecoming King?

KL: It felt great!  I was a little surprised that non-Greeks could run.  I always was under the impression that it was a Greek tradition.

GS: How long have you been part of USG?

KL: It's my fourth year.

GS; What have been the benefits of being a member of USG?

KL: That's a really good question. USG has really pushed me. They pushed me to do Pizzalympics and I learned a lot.

GS: Speaking of Pizzalympics, how did you develop it?

KL: Freshmen year, I tried to get a student discount program and it failed miserably. Second year, I scaled it down a little. It was like, let's get a bunch of vendors and do a competition. So, I called them and the first year we had a great response and it's evolved from there.

GS: What to do you expect to gain from this year's USG?

KL; I hope to learn. You try to learn each year. I hope by the end of the year I can see what needs to be changed. Because we've made so many changes this year, I'm going to have to look at the changes and see how they've affected campus.

GS: During USG meetings, you've frequently mentioned low school spirit on campus. How would you go about fixing that?
