This week UPB is continuing love for Cleveland by bringing two more local bands to The Spot. Opening up next Wednesday at 9 p.m. will be Teenage Grandpa. Hailing from Cleveland Heights, Teenage Grandpa is Andrew Jurcak on bass and VOX, Frank Wallis on guitar, and Setari Parsa on drums. Frank was previously in Left Field and Andrew played in Flee the Casino.

"The way we met was funny. Some of my Case friends rented the first floor of this house in Cleveland, which was the same house that Andrew and Frank were renting the second floor of, so eventually we met and eventually we started jamming... and eventually we became Teenage Grandpa!" Parsa explained. "We're always excited to play a show but we're especially excited to play at The Spot because we get to open for Other Girls! They're a sweet band and we're big fans."

Other Girls released their new album, Perfect Cities which was recorded at Audio Eagle this summer. It's jam packed with healing indie rock. Jonah, Corey, Dave, and Jay, the four male members of Other Girls, have been having a lot of fun since its release, touring and making a cool music video for "Hey Fella, Ya Fell" off of the album. They are continually inspired by The Replacements, Pavement, Morrisey, and Neil Diamond. Come catch some perfect indie rock at the Spot Wednesday, Nov. 11.

In case you missed it: October 28's Spot Night began with a hitch in planning: due to difficulties in obtaining a passport, The Very Best were unable to perform. Still, due to last minute efforts by the UPB, the Spot Night went on. DJ Steve Newton, who has previously performed at the Grog Shop and the Beachland Ballroom, gave a unique set, eschewing traditional samples for psychedelic and exotic music. For the evening's main act, they were able to acquire Knoxville, Tennessee electro-rockers The Royal Bangs. Although they attracted a small crowd due to the unfortunate circumstances, those who did attend were thoroughly entertained, primarily by the band's strong guitar hooks and singer Ryan Schaefer's strong, prominent vocals.
