This Friday, La Alianza will be holding La Fiesta, its annual benefit event for the Westside Community House. Fiesta attendants will enjoy a fabulous Spanish dinner, speeches, and a performance by the Tropical Rhythms dance group. Also, don't forget to find out if your professor is offering extra credit for attending this Latin-Hispanic extravaganza. Time: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Cost: $5 for students, $10 for others. On this campus, the conclusion of one relay event means the rise of another. Hudson Relays is a longstanding tradition commemorating the university's relocation from Hudson, Ohio to University Circle. For all participants, there will be a complimentary dinner in Thwing Atrium Friday at 6 p.m. Hudson Relays begins Saturday morning with events, particularly the Doc Oc Statue Dedication, leading up to the race at 10:30 p.m. Time: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost: Free. One of the university's biggest, most anticipated events of the year has finally arrived. Following the Hudson Relays, Springfest will explode onto campus with good old-fashioned carnival food, various booths from different organizations, attractions, and live music. The winners of this year's Battle of the Bands will be performing throughout the event, leading up to a headlining set by blues-rock band The Black Keys. Time: noon to 6 p.m. Cost: Free. Sometimes the best way to identify with another culture is through its cuisine. This Sunday, the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship will be holding a multi-ethnic potluck at The Spot, complete with a variety of foods, games, and music from other cultures. The dinner will be potluck style, so if you plan on attending, remember to bring a scrumptious dish (you can register what you're bringing on the provided website). While Harkness Chapel is almost always full of joyous music, the sound that fills it this Tuesday will be more gleeful than normal. The Case Men's Glee Club and Case Women's Glee Club will together host their annual Spring Glee Concert. Perhaps 2009's greatest buzz band, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have shot themselves up to the heights of critical acclaim off of one sugary-sweet, 35-minute-long album. The group will prove their mettle this Thursday at the Beachland Ballroom, where they'll hope to simultaneously energize and charm a crowd with noisy, yet twee sensibilities. Time: 9 p.m. Cost: $10.
