Though Thanksgiving break already drew to a close, Case's Sunday win against Kalamazoo College gave the Spartans much to be thankful for. The 69-56 win is the Spartans' third-straight victory, and Ashleigh Tondo and Caitlin Henry scored big for the Spartans to solidify the win. After junior forward Kristyn Atkins put the Spartans ahead at the 12-minute mark with a layup, Kalamazoo's Hornets trailed behind for most of the half. The Spartans clearly dominated; the Hornets shot just 18 percent from the field and were pressured into 16 turnovers in just the first half. Working their good defense into an offensive attack, the Spartans scored 11 points off of these turnovers. The Spartans led at halftime: 27-19.

The Hornets attempted to regroup at halftime, and Nyemade Cooper came out strong with a basket as she was fouled. Cooper's jumper and foul shot brought Kalamazoo within four points of tying it up. However, junior guard Tondo made two free throws in just the next play. From that point on, the Hornets struggled to keep up with the Spartans, as the Spartans' defensive play caused even more Kalamazoo turnovers. The Spartans scored 13 points off of turnovers alone in the second half.

Tondo and Henry were the Spartans' leading scorers. Tondo had a game-high 21 points; Henry followed close behind with 18. Freshmen Erin Hollinger and Chelsea Peck proved themselves on the court with seven points each as well. Both saw over 20 minutes of playing time and contributed greatly to the outcome.

The Spartans used a balanced scoring attack Wednesday to defeat Kenyon, 60-46. Four Spartans scored in double figures as Case won its fourth straight, improving to 4-1 on the season. They next travel to Wooster on Saturday for a 5 p.m. game.
