Fallout 3 is an interesting first-person shooter for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. A great deal of emphasis is placed on player choice, and your choices greatly affect your future in the game. You can control the development of your character through his stats and abilities, and you can control the development of the plot with your actions. The Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System (VATS) from previous Fallout titles makes a return as well. While using it, gameplay pauses so you can target specific areas of an enemy. Effective use of VATS can be very satisfying.
Gears of War 2 for the Xbox 360 is another noteworthy title. It keeps the awesome graphics and interesting gameplay from the original, and adds new environments, weapons, and multiplayer. The story picks up six months after the first game, and the plot is pretty solid and deep.
LittleBigPlanet for the PS3 is a very unique platforming game. Although the story mode is a bit on the short side (roughly six hours), there is a massive amount of creativity in the game to make up for it. You can spend hours customizing your character and creating your own stages. Multiplayer can make the game even more fun if the camera can keep up with all the characters.
Grand Theft Auto 4 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC is, according to many, the best in the series to date. The environment (Liberty City) feels truly alive, controls are tighter, and the story mode is better than ever. Multiplayer has also received a significant upgrade: 16 players can now play at once! If you like any of the previous titles in the series, you should definitely check this one out.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PS3 is acclaimed for its ability to flawlessly mix storytelling and gameplay. When playing this great-looking and realistic game, you'll feel like you're the star of an action movie. Things like nifty gadgets, stealth, and great multiplayer modes add to the great core gameplay and plot to make this, quite possibly, the best Metal Gear game yet.

As much as I play SSBB, I have to disagree with its placing at #1. I don't know where you've been playing, but the Wi-Fi multiplayer is anything BUT lag-free. (Continued…)
